STORM CAN’t HOLD THREE-GOAL LEAD, LOSE in OT 5-4

KEARNEY, Neb. – Seth Ambroz scored in overtime to give the Omaha Lancers a 2-0 series lead over the Tri-City Storm, as Omaha came back from a 3-0 deficit to prevail in overtime 5-4 on Friday night. The Storm will have to win Saturday night in Omaha to keep their season alive and force a Game 4 in Kearney on Monday night.
 
The Storm opened the scoring in the first period at the 15:17 mark, as Kenny Brooks scored short-handed to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.
 
Jaden Schwartz gave the Storm a 2-0 lead at the 5:29 mark in the second period, as Mario Puskarich and Brett Mohler picked up the assists.
 
T.J. Schlueter deflected a Cody Murphy shot from the left-circle with 5:28 left in the second period that gave the Storm a brief 3-0 lead.
 
However, Omaha’s Stefan Demopoulos scored 36-seconds after the Storm’s third goal to get the Lancers on the board before the third period.
 
In the third period, Demopoulos scored his second goal of the night 2:02 into the period. Omaha tied the game at 3-3 on Dennis Brown’s power-play goal at the 6:00 mark.
 
Anthony DeCenzo scored 29-seconds later to give the Storm the lead back, as Matt Johnson and Luke McManus picked up the assists on DeCenzo’s first playoff goal in his three-year USHL career.
 
But, Brown tied the game again on the power play at the 9:16 mark in the third period. It was Brown’s second goal of the night and it would eventually force overtime.
 
Omaha was awarded a third consecutive power play in the game at the 2:05 mark in the overtime period. Ambroz scored on the power play just 49-seconds later, as Matt White found him in front of the net.
 
Steven Bolton (0-1) made 34 saves on 39 shots in the loss for the Storm. Jeff Teglia (2-0) made 19 saves on 23 shots in the win for the Lancers.
 
The Storm on the power play was 0-for-3, while Omaha was 3-for-6 with the man-advantage.
 
Tri-City will play Game 3 on Saturday night at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The Storm will try to win Game 3 and force a Game 4 in Kearney on Monday night.
 
Notes: The Storm were without Radoslav Illo and Tyler Pistone in Game 2 due to undisclosed injuries… It was the first time this season (regular season included) that the Storm scored four goals on Omaha
