LIND DRAFTED IN 6TH ROUND BY THE ANAHEIM DUCKS

Saturday, June 26, 2010
- For Immediate Release

LOS ANGELES – The Tri-City Storm’s incoming defenseman Kevin Lind became the second player drafted by an NHL team this past weekend from the Storm. The Anaheim Ducks selected him with the 177th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Lind received the news via the NHL Network, as he watched his name appear at the bottom of the screen during the draft show.

“Finally!” exclaimed Lind, as he watched the announcement from home in Homer Glen, Ill. with his family and friends.

“We were watching all day and it was a relief to see my name finally called,” said Lind, who will make his Storm debut this season. “It’s an honor to be selected by the Ducks. They are a great organization with a tradition of winning.”

Lind, who is committed to the University of Notre Dame for the Fall of 2011, played for the Chicago Steel this past season before being acquired by the Storm on the day of the USHL Entry Draft. He was part of a trade that sent the first overall pick to Chicago in exchange for Lind, D Zack Rall, LW TJ Sarcona, and C Cory Czarnik.

“Starting this summer, I’m going to work harder to become a meaner and more complete hockey player, so I can pay the Ducks back for having faith in drafting me,” Lind proclaimed after being selected. “I owe it to them for selecting me. I’m really excited right now to be a Ducks prospect.”

Lind, who is 6-foot-3 and 215-pounds, had six goals, 10 assists and was a plus-3 in 55 games in the 2009-10 season. Also, the upcoming third-year USHL defenseman was voted by the USHL coaches to the Eastern Division All-Star team last season.

“We are really happy for Kevin today, as he is a guy that we believe will make an impact someday in the NHL,” said Head Coach/General Manager Drew Schoneck. “He is a player that I look forward coaching this season and can’t wait to get to know him more.”

The Storm are part of the United States Hockey League, which has 16 teams across nine states in the Midwest. Get your season tickets now for the 2010-11 season by calling the Storm office at 308-338-8809.
