Swedish-born defenseman in first USHL season
Kearney, Neb. – Tri-City Storm defenseman Philip Alftberg has announced his verbal commitment to St Lawrence University, the 17th active Tri-City player to commit to an NCAA Division I institution.
"We are excited and proud of Philip on his commitment," said Bill Muckalt, Storm Head Coach and General Manager. "He has shown a commitment to improve every day since coming to this league."
A native of Marsta, Sweden, Alftberg, 19, is in his first season playing in North America. In 27 games, the 5-foot-8, 178-lb. blueliner is tied for a Tri-City defensemen-best four goals. Alftberg leads Storm defensemen with 15 points.
On January 6 against Des Moines, Alftberg set a career high with three assists vs Des Moines, the most helpers a Storm player has had in a game this season.
