Storm set for road series with Black Hawks

Game will be streamed on FloHockey & Storm Radio

WATERLOO, IA. – The Tri-City Storm is set for this weekend's road series against the Waterloo Black Hawks after splitting back-to-back games on the road last week against the Fargo Force. Puck drop for tonight's road game at Young Arena is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.  
 
Tri-City (5-6-0-0) was shut out for the second time this season in last Friday's 4-0 road loss to the Fargo Force. The Storm netted five goals the previous night in the team's fifth win of the season. Kieran Cebrian netted his first career hat trick, Artemi Nizameyev scored his first career goal, and Ryan Smith notched his second goal of the season in the victory. The Storm's specialty teams netted two powerplay goals, and a shorthanded goal in the win. Tri-City's powerplay is currently ranked 12th in the USHL with a success rate of 18.5%. The team's powerplay is one of seven teams in the league this season to score ten or more goals. The Storm's penalty kill is currently fourth in the league with a success rate of 81.5% entering this weekend's road series against the Black Hawks. Scoring leaders for Tri-City through the opening eleven games of the regular season include Kieran Cebrian (7), Graham Gamache (4), and Sebastian Törnqvist (3). The Storm returns home to the Viaero Center for back-to-back home games against the Des Moines Buccaneers following this weekend's series against the Waterloo Black Hawks.
 
Waterloo (6-5-0-0) seeks to protect home ice tonight against the Storm following two consecutive wins over the Des Moines Buccaneers and Sioux Falls Stampede. The Black Hawks have won four of the last five games, and most recently defeated Des Moines at Young Arena by a final score of 4-1 last Saturday. James Hong, Sam Rinzel, Gavin O'Connell, and Myles Hilman scored for the Black Hawks in the victory. Jack Spicer stopped 27 of Des Moines' 28 shots on net in the win. Waterloo's powerplay is ninth-best in the USHL this year with a success rate of 20.9%. The Black Hawks' penalty kill is ranked 12th in the league with a success rate of 72.5%. Scoring leaders for Waterloo entering this weekend's home series against the Storm include Gavin Thoreson (5), Garrett Schifsky (5), and Myles Hilman (4). Waterloo holds a 9-13-0-0 record against Tri-City in head-to-head matchups over the last five seasons. The Black Hawks defeated the Storm once in six meetings during the 2021-2022 regular season. Waterloo posted a 4-1 victory over Tri-City at Young Arena on October 8th in the only previous game between the two teams this season. The Black Hawks will face off against the Storm six times this season. Tomorrow's game will be the final matchup between the two teams played at Young Arena this season. Waterloo will host Lincoln for back-to-back games next weekend.
