SIOUX FALLS, SD– Tri-City Storm goaltender
Cameron Korpi shined in a shutout performance on Friday night in the team's 1-0 road victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede. He stopped all 26 shots faced during the contest to record his first shutout of the season.
Brandt Harper netted the game-winning goal for the Storm in the first five minutes of the matchup. The Storm improved to 5-2-0-0 on the season, and will travel to face the Des Moines Buccaneers Saturday night at Buccaneers Arena in the team's final game of the weekend. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00pm CT.
Brandt Harper scored his first career USHL goal for the Storm at 4:08 of Friday's opening period to give Tri-City a 1-0 advantage in the matchup. Harper's goal was the lone scoring play of the 1
st period, and the Storm carried a one-goal lead into the middle period. Sioux Falls outshot Tri-City 8-4 during the 1
st period.
The Stampede outshot the Storm 9-8 in the 2
nd period, and Friday's 3
rd period began with Tri-City leading by a single goal. Sioux Falls lifted goaltender Caleb Heil for an extra attacker with less than two minutes to play in an attempt to tie the game, but the Storm prevailed in a 1-0 shutout victory. The Stampede outshot the Storm 9-7 during the 3
rd period, and 26-19 overall during the battle.
Cameron Korpi made 26 saves on 26 shots to record the second shutout of his Tri-City career. Caleb Heil dropped the game in goal for the Stampede after a 18-save-on-19-shot-performance.
