KEARNEY, NE– The Tri-City Storm defeated the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders by a final score of 5-2 Friday night at the Viaero Center in Kearney.
Ryan Smith netted two goals for the Storm in the win.
Owen Beckner,
Trevor Connelly, and
August Falloon also scored for Tri-City in the home ice victory.
Cameron Korpi improved to 4-0-0-0 on the season in net for the Storm in the game. Following an off day tomorrow, Tri-City will conclude play this weekend on the road Sunday evening in a matchup with the Sioux Falls Stampede. Puck drop is set for 4:05pm CT.

st period. The RoughRiders' scoring play was assisted by Connor Smith. The Storm answered quickly with a powerplay goal from
Owen Beckner. The goal was netted at 7:03 of Friday's 1
st period, and was assisted by
Trevor Connelly and
Seth Constance. The scoring play was the first of Beckner's USHL career.
Ryan Smith scored his first goal of the night, and second goal of the season at 8:58 of the opening period to give Tri-City a one-goal lead in the matchup. Smith's goal was assisted by
Carmelo Crandell, and
August Falloon.
Trevor Connelly converted on a scoring play for the third consecutive game to increase Tri-City's lead to two goals at 9:14 of the opening period.

August Falloon each recorded an assist on the scoring play. The Storm outshot the RoughRiders 10-1 during Friday's 1
st period. Tri-City carried a 3-1 advantage into the middle period.
August Falloon scored his team-leading 5
th goal of the year at 6:29 of the 2
nd period to give the Storm a 4-1 lead in the matchup.
Trevor Connelly notched an assist on the scoring play. The final goal of the middle period was scored on the powerplay by Cedar Rapids forward Cade Littler. Littler's goal was netted at 12:16 of the 2
nd period, and was his fourth goal of the season. Ryan Philbrick recorded the lone assist on the scoring play. The RoughRiders outshot the Storm 10-7 in the 2
nd period, but trailed by two goals entering Friday's final period.
The lone goal of the 3
rd period was scored by
Ryan Smith. Smith's goal was netted at 5:09 of the period, and was his second goal of the game.
Nick Peluso and
Vladislav Lukashevich each recorded an assist on the scoring play. The Storm was outshot 9-8 during the 3
rd period, but outshot the RoughRiders by an overall margin of 25-20 during the battle.
Cameron Korpi backstopped the team to victory for the fourth time this season after making 18 saves on 20 shots. Korpi recorded the win in goal for Tri-City, and San Scopa picked up the loss in net for Cedar Rapids after a 20-save-on-25-shot-effort.
The Storm collected a 5-2 win Friday night at the Viaero Center, and improved to 4-1-0-0 on the season.
