YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Tri-City Storm dropped a 6-3 road decision to the Youngstown Phantoms Friday night at the Covelli Centre.

Cooper Simpson each netted a goal for Tri-City in the loss. The Storm will return to action tomorrow night in another road matchup against the Phantoms. Puck drop for tomorrow's final game of the three-game regular season series between Tri-City and Youngstown is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.
Cam Briere netted his fourth goal of the season at 1:53 of Friday's opening period to give Tri-City a one-goal lead in the matchup. The goal was assisted by
Ryan Smith and
Charlie Kinsman. The Phantoms responded with a shorthanded scoring play at 9:48 of the opening period to bring the game to a 1-1 tie. The goal was netted by Mikey Burchill, and was scored unassisted. The final goal of Friday's 1
st period was netted by Braiden Clark on the powerplay to give Youngstown a two-goal advantage. Clark's goal was his third of the season, and was assisted by Finn McLaughlin and Mikey Burchill. The Storm was outshot 12-7 during the 1
st period, and trailed by a 2-1 score entering Friday's middle period.
August Falloon scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season at 6:48 of Friday's 2
nd period to bring the game to a 2-2 tie. The goal was scored shorthanded, and was the Storm's first shorthanded goal of the season. Finn McLaughlin netted a powerplay goal at 12:51 of the middle period to give the Phantoms a 3-2 lead in the matchup. The goal was McLaughlin's first of the season, and was assisted by Mikey Burchill and Charlie Cerrato. Youngstown netted another powerplay goal with less than three minutes to play in the period to take a two-goal lead in the contest. The goal was scored by Ryan Botterill, and was his sixth scoring play of the year. Jack Wilson and Tory Pitner each recorded an assist on the scoring play. Youngstown outshot Tri-City 10-9 in the 2
nd period, and entered the final period with a 4-2 lead in the battle.
Cooper Simpson scored the first goal of his USHL career at 5:48 of Friday's 3
rd period to bring Tri-City within one goal of Youngstown's lead. Simpson's goal was netted on the powerplay, and was assisted by
Jake Rozzi and
Owen Beckner. Mikey Burchill scored his second goal of the game, and sixth goal of the season with two minutes remaining in Friday's 3
rd period to give Youngstown another two-goal advantage in the game. The final goal of Friday's matchup was scored into an empty net by Hunter Ramos with less than one minute to play. The Storm outshot the Phantoms 14-10 during the final period, but was outshot 32-30 overall during the game.
Cameron Korpi dropped the game in goal for Tri-City after making 26 saves on 31 shots. Owen Bartoszkiewicz collected the win in net for the Phantoms after turning away 27 of the Storm's 30 shots on goal during the matchup. Tri-City finished the contest 1/8 on the powerplay, and 4/7 on the penalty kill. The Storm dropped to 7-6-0-0 overall on the season in the loss.
Tri-City will return home for back-to-back games against the Waterloo Black Hawks on Friday, November 10
th, and Saturday, November 11
th. Friday's game will feature a $5 Kids Friday presented by Big Apple Fun Center. Saturday's game will serve as the organization's annual Military Appreciation Night presented by Nebraska Warriors.
