Tri-City packs 5-2 win Saturday in Green Bay, Storm sweep two-game set with Gamblers

Saturday's box score

GREEN BAY, WI – Nolan Roed and Artemi Nizameyev each produced their second straight two-goal games to lead the Tri-City Storm over the Green Bay Gamblers 5-2 on Saturday night at Resch Center.

Tri-City (11-10-3, 25 pts) swept a two-game series with one opponent for the second time in November. Green Bay (11-9-1, 23 pts) has dropped five of its first eight home games this season.

Roed and Nizameyev both put up seven points each across the two-game series. Roed, the reigning USHL Forward of the Week, has produced a whopping 14 points over his last five games. Nizameyev has produced six goals across his last six contests.

Tri-City broke Saturday's scoreless tie 21 seconds into the first. Nizameyev rushed the puck down the right wing of the Gambler's zone, then set up Roed with a centering pass in front of the Green Bay net. Roed stuffed a hard five-hole shot past Green Bay goaltender Gavin Moffat.

The Gamblers tied the contest near the halfway mark of the first. Andrew O'Sullivan collected his third tally of the season after grabbing an open puck sitting in the high slot. The Scituate, Massachusetts native ripped a snapshot past Storm goaltender Adam Dybal on the blocker side.

A pair of second period goals propelled the Storm to a 3-1 advantage after forty minutes.

Tri-City re-took the lead 4:01 into the middle frame when Carson Pilgrim carried the puck from neutral ice to the right wing circle of the Green Bay zone. The North Dakota commit ripped a shot past Moffat for his third tally of the year. Pilgrim received a feed from Attila Lippai in the neutral zone to begin the play.

About six minutes later, Nizameyev struck after receiving a deflected puck in front of the Green Bay net following a Shaun McEwen whiffed shot due to a broken stick. Nizameyev sniped a wrister top-shelf on Moffat after retrieving the lucky bounce.

Green Bay shaved the Tri-City lead to one halfway through the third. Will Zellers snatched the puck from Nizameyev at center ice, then walked into the Tri-City zone with a breakaway. Zellers quickly flicked a shot past Dybal for his team-leading 15th goal of the year.

The Storm answered a little over five minutes later with their second power play tally of the weekend. Nizameyev, after getting the puck from Rylan Bonkowski, sent another in-tight shot toward the Green Bay net past Moffat. The Storm power play, which has struggled for the majority of the season, went 2-for-3 across the two-game series.

The Gamblers pulled Moffat in the last few minutes of regulation. After generating a turnover near their own blue line, the Storm slowly rushed toward the vacant cage with approximately a minute to go. Nizameyev fed Roed cross-ice, who slammed the puck into the empty net.

Tri-City outshot Green Bay 33-21 during the contest. Dybal stopped 19 of 21 Gambler shots to collect his fifth win of the season.

Up next: Tri-City returns home next weekend. On Friday, the Storm host Sioux City at 7:05 pm CT. Sioux Falls comes to the Viaero Center on Saturday for a 6:05 pm CT puck drop. The Storm will host a player postgame autograph session following Saturday's game. For ticket information, visit
