Friday's box score
RALSTON, Neb. – Cameron Springer's first career multi-goal game guided the Tri-City Storm to a 4-1 victory over the Omaha Lancers on Friday night at Liberty First Credit Union Arena.
Tri-City (14-12-3, 31 pts) has won five of its past seven games. Omaha (6-17-4, 16 pts) has lost nine in a row, the second-longest losing streak by any USHL team this season.
Tri-City was first to score. Carmelo Crandell tallied his ninth goal of the year at the 11:59 mark of the opening frame after firing a snapshot past Lancer netminder Mikhail Yegorov. Crandell, who was positioned in the high slot of the Omaha zone, received an Ashton Dahms feed from the left wing. Crandell walked the puck to the right wing circle, then released his shot to break the scoreless tie.
Omaha tied the contest early in the second. Easton Jacobs tallied his second of the season seven seconds into a Lancer power play following an interference minor by Tri-City's Rylan Bonkowski. Jacobs received a pass at the left point from Brian Lonergan. The UMass-Lowell commit then strode down the left wing, flipping a shot past Storm goaltender Adam Dybal.
Springer collected a pair of tallies in the latter part of the second period to hand the Storm a two-goal lead after forty minutes.
At the 15:33 mark of the middle frame, Artemi Nizameyev grabbed a loose puck on the right wing boards of the Omaha zone to begin a 2-on-1 Storm rush toward the Lancer net. After faking a slapshot from the right wing circle, Nizameyev fed Springer off the left post. The Bowling Green commit banked the puck past Yegorov to give Tri-City the lead. Nizameyev also produced a multi-point game on Friday with a pair of assists.
The Storm collected a buzzer beater at the end of the second, extending their advantage. Colby Woogk fired a shot from the left point of the Omaha zone. Yegorov allowed a small rebound in the Lancers' crease after halting the puck with his chest. Springer, positioned directly in front of the Omaha net, quickly pushed the puck past Yegorov with eight tenths of a second remaining for his fourth tally of the season.
Omaha pulled Yegorov with just under three minutes to go in regulation. Tri-City capitalized with an empty net tally 18:08 into the third. After the Storm generated a forecheck turnover in the Lancers' zone, Nolan Roed fed Attila Lippai in the left wing circle. The St. Thomas commit fired into the empty net for his sixth tally of the season.
Roed has now collected an assist in seven straight games. The streak ties Tri-City's franchise record set by five different players. Current Providence College forward Trevor Connelly was the last Storm player to produce seven straight games with an assist. Connelly recorded the streak during the 2022-2023 season.
Dybal stopped 25 of 26 Omaha shots on Friday. The Czechia native has won seven of his last eight starts.
Additional note: Nizameyev's six-game goal streak ended Friday night. It tied for the second-longest in Storm franchise history. Former Tri-City players Jake Richard, Mitchell Miller, Matthew Knies, and Alex Limoges also compiled six-game goal streaks during their Storm careers.
Up next: Tri-City closes the weekend on Saturday at Lincoln. Puck drop inside the Ice Box is scheduled for 6:05 pm CT. The game will be broadcast on FloHockey and Storm Radio.
