Tuesday's box score
KEARNEY, Neb. – Six different Tri-City Storm skaters logged multiple points on Tuesday night as the Storm beat the Omaha Lancers 7-1 inside Viaero Center.Â
Tri-City (25-23-4, 54 pts) produced seven goals in one game for the second time this season and first since November 8 at home against Sioux Falls. Omaha (7-38-6, 20 pts) dropped to 4-21-2 in away contests on the year.Â
Tri-City was first to get on the board at the 10:35 mark of the first. In the midst of a Storm offensive zone possession, Attila Lippai flipped a shot from the right wing half wall that awkwardly skipped over the pad of Omaha starting netminder Aiden McKenna and into the back of the Lancer net.
The Storm doubled their advantage a little less than two minutes later. As Tri-City rushed the ice, Carson Pilgrim received the puck on the right wing boards near Omaha's blue line. The Warroad, Minnesota native raced around a Lancer defender, then ripped a snapshot past McKenna's blocker side for his seventh goal of the campaign.Â
It was a productive first period overall for Tri-City, who outshot Omaha 13-2 in the opening frame.Â
The Storm continued their pressure in the second, adding three more tallies.Â
Artemi Nizameyev made it 3-0 on a rush goal 2:28 into the frame. The Miami commit, who was positioned at the bottom of the right wing circle in the Omaha zone, slid the puck softly toward the Lancer crease. McKenna approached the puck while in the butterfly position, but allowed it to slide five-hole between his legs and into the back of the cage. Nizameyev recorded his first goal in exactly two months; his last tally was on January 11 at the U.S. National Team Development Program.Â
Tri-City struck again at the 4:22 mark of the second. Lippai grabbed his second of the game with a hard snapshot from the top of the left wing circle after retrieving a feed from Roed. Tuesday was Lippai's fourth multi-goal game of the year. The St. Thomas commit has put up four goals over his past four appearances.Â
The Storm made it 5-0 on a beautiful Ashton Dahms tally with just under four minutes remaining in the period. Dahms grabbed a Cole Ward feed on the left wing of neutral ice, then sped quickly into the Omaha zone. The Minnesota Duluth commit broke through a pair of Lancer defensemen, then deeked with a forehand-backhand move in front of McKenna. Dahms finished the play with a high backhand shot that sailed over the goaltender's blocker side.Â
Omaha replaced McKenna with Daniel Moor at the start of the third period. McKenna, a Vermont commit, stopped 18 of the 23 shots he faced on Tuesday.Â
Tri-City added another pair in the third. Nizameyev grabbed his second of the game after receiving a puck from Dahms off a Storm offensive zone faceoff. Dahms, the center in the draw, swept the puck directly back to Nizameyev, who strode once to his right from the top of the left wing circle and immediately ripped a shot around Moor at the 6:25 mark of the frame. Tuesday was Nizameyev's first multi-goal game since December 13 at Lincoln.Â
A little less than three minutes later, Paul Bloomer recorded his fifth of the season while tipping a Ward shot from the right point directly in front of the Omaha net. Bloomer's tally made it 7-0. It was the Chicago native's second tally in March.Â
Omaha found the board and finished the night's scoring with just over four minutes remaining. Caden Lee stole the puck on a forecheck below the Tri-City goal line and quickly snuck a shot between Storm goaltender Michal Pradel's outstretched left leg and the right post of the Storm net.Â
Pradel earned his sixth win in eight appearances with Tri-City on Tuesday. The Slovakia native halted 13 of 14 Lancer shots.Â
Ward topped all players with four points in the game. Each was an assist. It was the Rochester Hills, Michigan native's first career multi-point contest.
The six-goal margin was Tri-City's largest in a victory this season and biggest since February 24, 2024, when the Storm beat Omaha 9-2 at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Â
