John Torchetti was named the eleventh head coach in Storm franchise history on July 29, 2025. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Torchetti also serves as Tri-City's President and Director of Hockey Operations.
Torchetti has stood behind the bench as either a Head Coach, Interim Head Coach, or Assistant Coach for eight NHL teams, including Tampa Bay, Florida, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Minnesota, Detroit, and most recently, Philadelphia.
The Boston-area native has amassed over 40-years in hockey as a player or coach. After competing in eight seasons across three leagues (AAHL, AHL, & ECHL), Torchetti retired as a player after the 1990-91 ECHL campaign. His coaching career began as an assistant for the Greensboro Monarchs (ECHL) during the 1993-94 season. Torchetti's first coaching position in the NHL came with the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 1999-00 campaign, where he served as an assistant for two seasons before being named GM and Head Coach of the AHL's San Antonio Rampage for the 2002-03 season.
Torchetti was a 2010 Stanley Cup Champion while an assistant coach with the Chicago Blackhawks.
