Saturday's box score
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – With the contest tied 1-1 after two periods, the Sioux Falls Stampede put up a trio of goals in the third frame to defeat the Tri-City Storm 4-1 on Saturday night at Denny Sanford Premier Center.
Tri-City (1-3-1, 3 pts) was first to score. Just over three and a half minutes into the opening period, Bode Laylin sent a shot from the right point of the Sioux Falls zone toward Tri-City's Cooper Ernewein, who was positioned in front of the Stampede net. Ernewein tipped the puck past Sioux Falls netminder Linards Feldbergs for his second tally of the year.
The Stampede (3-2-0, 6 pts) tied it in the middle part of the second. After a feed near the Storm blue line from Cooper Soller, Sioux Falls' Adyn Merrick dashed thru the right wing of Tri-City's zone and tucked the puck five-hole past Storm netminder Michal Pradel.
Sioux Falls tallied its game winner at the 9:16 mark of the third. In the midst of a Stampede offensive zone possession, Soller sniped a shot past Pradel's blocker side from the top of the right wing circle.
Sioux Falls didn't stop. During a Stampede rush just 29 seconds later, Joey Macrina fed an open Nick Snyder in front of the Storm net. Snyder tipped a puck through Pradel's five hole to make it 3-1.
The Storm pulled Pradel with a little less than four minutes left in regulation. Sioux Falls quickly found the vacant cage. Soller received a Merrick pass in the neutral zone and walked toward the Tri-City net for his second and final marker of the night.
Pradel stopped 33 of 36 shots in his fourth game of the season. Feldbergs, who collected his third victory of the year, halted 20 of 21.
