Three Storm players collect first career USHL goals as Tri-City knocks off Omaha 5-2 on Friday night

Friday's box score

KEARNEY, Neb. – Danick St. Pierre, Nathan Garski, and Patrik Rusznyak each collected their first career USHL goals to help the Tri-City Storm to a 5-2 win over the Omaha Lancers on Friday night at Viaero Center.

Tri-City (6-3-0, 12 pts) picked up its fourth win in the last five games. Omaha (2-5-0, 4 pts) has dropped four of its past five contests.

The Storm broke the ice late into an evenly-played first period. In the midst of an Omaha offensive zone possession, Tri-City's Matthew Krayer grabbed a turned-over puck near the Storm blue line and began racing down the ice with his brother Dylan. After Matthew Krayer's initial shot attempt was stopped by Lancer goaltender Anthony Sciere, Dylan Krayer retrieved the puck near the right post of the Omaha net and stuffed it home for his fourth goal of the season.

Omaha tied the game with a shorthanded marker at the 4:21 mark of the second. Ryan Aaronson received a Thaddeus McMahon pass near center ice and drove on a breakaway toward Storm goaltender Quinn Beumer. Aaronson ripped a snapshot past Beumer's glove side for his third shorthanded goal of the season.

Tri-City added two more second period goals to take a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

Exactly six minutes into the middle frame, Dom Domonkos grabbed the puck on the right wing of the Storm offensive zone and maneuvered along the goal line to the Omaha net. As he approached Sciere, the Slovakia native made a forehand-backhand move to steer the puck around the outstretched right pad of the netminder, handing Tri-City a 2-1 advantage.

The Storm doubled their lead less than three minutes later. St. Pierre received a Sammy Courtemanche feed in the middle of the Omaha zone as Tri-City moved into its offensive end. The Yale commit fired a mid-range snapshot past Sciere for his first career USHL goal.

Omaha struck first in the third to cut the deficit to one goal. At the 9:25 mark of the frame, Adam Israilov slipped a right wing feed to Yegor Kim across the Storm zone. Kim quickly swiped a shot through Beumer for his fourth tally of the season.

Down a goal with just over a minute left in the third, Omaha pulled Sciere for an extra attacker. Tri-City used the vacant cage to produce two goals.

Garski made it a 4-2 contest after collecting the puck from a netfront scramble in the Storm zone and clearing it off the left wing glass. The perfectly-angled clear trickled directly into the Lancers' cage.

With five seconds left, Rusznyak fired a shot of his own from the Tri-City zone that entered the empty Omaha cage to make it 5-2. Beumer earned an assist on the tally after handing Rusznyak the puck.

Beumer, who halted 35 of Omaha's 37 shots, earned his fourth win of the season in five appearances. Sciere, after stopping 25 of 28 Tri-City attempts, suffered the loss.

Eight different Tri-City players contributed a single point. There were no Storm skaters with multiple points in the game.
